Stonehenge
Hewn stone blocks arranged in a regular circle, referring to the pagan tradition of building similar groups to worship the gods.

Stone calendar in the heart of the Kyjov region
Enter a space where stone tells a story. A unique stone circle has grown in the Kyjovsko landscape – a modern Stonehenge – inspired by ancient megalithic structures and connecting history, the energy of the Earth and the spiritual dimension.
About the project
The author and investor of this exceptional work is Josef Kouřil, a native of Bukovany. Together with his wife Zdenka, he designed, implemented and ceremonially completed the project on April 16, 2025. Stonehenge Ostrovánky is their gift to current and future generations.
What makes up a stone circle?
16 menhirs from Dubenec sandstone (Dubenec near Jaroměře), arranged in a circle
Diameter of the circle: 24 meters
Height of the stones: average 4.8 m / highest 6.2 m
Weight of the stones: average 11,500 kg / heaviest 14,500 kg
Total weight: 185,000 kg
In the center of the circle there is a stone table, which symbolically connects the power of all the menhirs.
Under each stone was placed a handful of Czech garnet and chrysocolla stone - gemstones with deep symbolism of protection, peace and life force.
Symbolism and Energy
This place was not chosen by chance. Three independent psychics have identified this location as an exceptionally strong energy point. The earth's energy flows here in a counterclockwise direction and is multiplied by the circular arrangement. Staying here has a positive effect on emotional well-being.
The four tallest stones mark the cardinal points, giving the circle an orientational meaning – just like the ancient stone calendars of our ancestors.
Historical Reference
Similar stone circles were created in our territory more than 4,500 years ago - as places of rituals, meetings and celebrations of important moments of the year, such as solstices, equinoxes or harvest. Stonehenge Ostrovánky continues this tradition - and at the same time transforms it for today's world.
Stonehenge can be found at the end of the Journey of Czech rulers towards Sobůlky, about 200m away. The area is accessible without restrictions and free of charge.
Parking is prohibited near this location. The parking lot for this excursion point is at the Bukovanský mill or at the beginning of the village of Ostrovánky on the left.
