Windmill and lookout tower

The windmill, which is already visible from afar as a dominant feature of the hill above the village of Bukovany near Kyjov, was built and inaugurated in 2004. The creator of the mill, Mr. Josef Kouřil from Kyjov, fulfilled his childhood dream by building the mill and thus created a magical place that attracts thousands of visitors every year. And what can be seen in the three-storey mill building?

Ground floor of the tower

On the ground floor there is a lounge called the Fireplace Room used for various work training sessions or small family celebrations. In summer, this room turns into a shop selling traditional products, you can taste wine or buy beautiful pottery.

First floor

The bright room on the first floor is used all year round as a sales gallery of traditional Slovak products from local producers. Here you will find traditional utilitarian ceramics, Tupesy ceramics, products made of straw (hats, sotůrky) and corn husks, or wooden products.

Second floor

On the second floor, you will go back to the first half of the 20th century. Thanks to the permanent exhibition of Slovak cuisine, you can be transported with us to the environment in which our great-grandmothers prepared the best dishes in the world.

View from the lookout tower

On the top floor there is an observation deck, which offers spectacular views of the surroundings. Looking from the tower of the mill, you can see the Kyjov Dolňácko region with its fields, orchards and vineyards, with the ridges of the White Carpathians and the Chřibý Mountains clearly visible on the horizon, and with good visibility you can see up to Kobyla Hill near Bratislava, 110 km away.

January-March
Guided tours are available Monday to Friday by prior arrangement at the reception.
Saturdays and Sundays the ticket office on the first floor of the mill is open 11:00-17:00.

April
Open to the public daily 11:00-17:00.

May
Weekdays open 11am-5pm.
Weekends and holidays open 10:00-18:00.

June
Open to the public daily 10:00-18:00.

July, August
Open to the public daily 9:30-18:30.

September
Open to the public daily 10:00-18:00.

October
Open to the public daily 11:00-17:00.

November, December
Guided tours are available Monday to Friday by appointment at the reception desk.
Saturdays and Sundays open box office on the first floor of the mill 11:00-17:00.

Admission to the lookout tower

Adults: 50 CZK
Children up to 120 cm: FREE admission
Guided tour for 1-4 persons: 200 CZK

For larger groups, a tour of the mill with an interpretation by the miller is possible. We also offer tours with a service package for senior tours. Information HERE. Reservations required in advance. More information at the hotel reception.
